HIGHER EDUCATION IN THE DELHI-NCR REGION

The future of education is focused on preparing students for leadership positions in a globalized knowledge society. The state of Delhi is an emerging hub of education in India accounting for a total of about 500,000 university students in Delhi NCR attending around more than 165 universities and colleges. As per the 2011 census, Delhi has a literacy rate of 86.3% with 91.0% of males and 80.9% of females. It is observed that women's enrolment in Higher Education is increasing year after year as per the AISHE report. The Delhi/NCR region comprises several multi-national companies owing to its proximity to almost 6 northern states of India. Hence, the students can gain vital exposure from the regular collaborations that these companies have with various educational institutes in the vicinity.

In the last decade, both states have been offering various courses from the law, engineering, management, medicine, pharmacy, and design, with an excellent curriculum designed to make students industry-ready. With all eyes on the implementation of the NEP now, where the dialogue between stakeholders is set to begin, the states should lay a roadmap for it.

ABOUT

REDEFINING INSTITUTIONAL STRATEGY FOR EXCELLENCE (R.I.S.E.), is a first-of-its-kind initiative by QS IGAUGE. R.I.S.E. provides a platform for the leaders in higher education to connect with their peer groups and discuss the current situation of education in their state.

We have witnessed an exhausting marathon of webinars, conferences, and other sessions in the last year on the pandemic, its challenges, and learnings for institutions and their leaders. It is now time to get together on a platform that goes beyond the daunting scenario we are in, to deliberate upon the possible solutions, way forward, and action plans towards achieving institutional excellence amid and despite the innumerable challenges forced upon us by this global crisis.
